Anticipation and....Margaritaville

Anticipation...is a noun.  Anticipate is a verb.  There's your English lesson for today.
 noun: an·tic·i·pa·tion \(ˌ)an-ˌti-sə-ˈpā-shən\
: a feeling of excitement about something that is going to happen
:  the act of preparing for something
I know that you have all been anticipating WHAT I could have possibly done to The Bogus Room to make it tolerable in my eyes.  WHAT was the "thing" that made me see this room differently?  It's a nail biter for sure.

What I saw when I was shopping at Target was a chair.  A simple, plain, ordinary chair...well, times two.  Because I would need a pair of chairs.  Not just any chair, but this chair....

It was screaming, "pick me, pick me".

I know, now you KNOW I've lost it, because that is not a chair you bring into the house, that is outdoor furniture.  That's what I told myself...repeatedly.  But, sometimes, you just have to take a chance.

The facts were laid out before me:  (a)  we needed seating in this room; (2) it is an odd-shaped room that regular furniture overwhelmed; (c) closing the doors to hide it didn't help -- they are glass doors; and (4) we needed seating in this room - seating that would not fill up every inch of the space and would be comfortable to us.

Remember that this room has 12 doors.  Actually, it has only 5 if you count the French doors as 2 but, still, a lot of doors for an odd space!

I saw, I bought, I ran.  And then I began to plan.  I moved a few things in the house around, picked up an odd and end here and there and dumped it all into this room.

And this is what shook out!

It has a little bit of a whimsical - beach - porch feel to it.

I don't growl, hiss or snarl every time I pass this room. It welcomes me.

My sweet husband purchased little umbrellas to put in our drinks when we're up there.

While it is not stylish or glamorous and will never win awards from Better Homes and Gardens, it is comfortable and relaxing to us.

After all, isn't that what our homes are supposed to be....comfortable? Relaxing? A respite from the outside world?  A safe haven?  A place to let our creativity explode?

I know I will continue to add to and take away from this room as things catch my eye.  But for now, I'm going to relax and enjoy our little taste of Margaritaville...sipping my Mt. Dew with my little umbrella in it!

  5. I have those chairs and yes, mine are outside, but that doesn't mean they can't be inside chairs. It's your house and my #1 rule of decorating is that there are no rules, it's your house, furnish it in a way that makes you happy! They are super comfy and they look fabulous! Great job! I still like the dog bed though...very glamorous! ;-)

    1. Awww, thank you! That is usually my rule too, that it’s my party and I can cry (or decorate) if I want to…LOL. I still have an empty bedroom and so far, the bogus room is working for us. We aren’t in there that often. And I’m with you, I still like the doggie bed idea also……the hubby keeps telling me no. But I think some cute doggie beds in the floor would be adorable…they have so many to choose from…LOL. I did buy one for a picnic I blogged about…LOL He wasn’t opposed to that comfort while outside! :-)

  6. I do think that reality is much more interesting on a blog...I tend to click off asap if I see fake styling so this is far more interesting! If I want fake...I thumb through the magazines in line at the grocery store while waiting for checkout. Passing interest...:)

    1. LOL…I totally know what you mean. Nothing fake about this get-up, that’s for sure. I decided when I started the blog that the good (some recipes), the bad (some of my decorating styles) and the ugly (my craft projects) would share equal time…LOL

  7. Hey I think it looks great! No bogus at all. One of these days you can use them outside if you want to but for now they fit the bill perfectly.
