If We Had No Winter...

...the Spring would not be so pleasant.

From all the chatter I've been hearing, I believe everyone is ready for spring to make an appearance!  I know that some of you have had horrific winter storms, while our winter here in Texas has been relatively mild.

I want to thank you for joining me for the Springtime Tablescape Blog Hop.

I know you have seen some beautiful table decor this week.  This wonderful group of bloggers never disappoints!  I also want to thank Chloe from Celebrate and Decorate for being our hostess for the week!  This is my first time to participate in this tablescape tour...I really appreciate her hard work in pulling this event together!  While spring is not one of my favorite seasons (I'm more of a fall and winter person), I was excited to participate in this blog tour.

When I found these beautiful tulips and lilies, I knew they would be the perfect centerpiece for my table.

I loved the orange color of the tulips and built my table decor around their color.  Before I could even get started, one lily dropped a petal but I didn't have the heart to throw it out, so I left it...life isn't always perfect.

I used the cutting board chargers I found last year at Pier 1 and added a gold charger on top, followed by my cream colored plates.  I used my black plates to add some height and topped those off with these pretty salad plates I found at HomeGoods.

They have a pretty light blue trim around the edge and a navy blue trim towards the center.

Both blues are rimmed with gold.  I knew this would tie in nicely with my gold flatware.

I found these cute little terra cotta place card holders at Hobby Lobby.  I gave them 2 coats of paint...a gold base with black on top.

I sanded off some of the black paint so that the gold would show through.  The place cards I added have part of a quote by Anne Bradstreet.

To tie in more gold accents, I used my gold stemware and casual gold napkins.

I could have used the napkins with gold sparkles but I wanted the true focus of my table to be those flowers. To dress up the casual napkins, I gave them an easy special fold and inserted a leaf of greenery.

While my table is not the traditional spring colors one would expect - full of pinks, yellows, greens and blues - I do believe those tulips and lilies give a gentle nod to the spring that is just around the corner.

Next on the tour for today is Michelle at Our Crafty Mom...I can't wait for you to see her table!!  AND, if you have a minute, please check out the other tablescapes on this tour...

...a full week of beautiful tables and lots of inspiration!

  1. Benita, this table is simply elegant. I so love your style. The flowers are perfect, even in their real life imperfection. Your place card pots turned out great. Those napkin folds look so chic on the plate stack, and the hints of color in the salads are something that would've caught my eye too. Welcome to the hop and thank you for a seat at your table!

    1. Rita, thank you so much! This was my first attempt at a napkin fold (I normally use rings), so I needed something simple. :-) I normally go all out for the holidays but feel that spring/summer need a little less hoopla...at least on my table. The design of the table is very simple so I try to work with that as well. I'm enjoying the blog hop so much, everyone is just great! Love and hugs sweet friend!

  2. Oh your table is perfect for spring. I tend to lean more toward yellows in the spring. I love tulips. I remember my mother in law had a set of blue and glod trim plates. They were so pretty. That reminds me, I need to find out what happend to them. Hmmm

    1. Thank you so much Lisa! I think I’m drawn to the orange because of my love for fall. My favorite flowers are hydrangeas, but I couldn’t find any. I also tried to find some pretty peonies, but they all looked so sad. Just too early here I suppose. Girl, you definitely need to find those plates, I bet they are gorgeous! Hugs!

    1. Thank you so much Carole! I like to keep things simple for spring/summer since I put a lot on that table for the holidays. I feel as though I'm giving it a break from all the bling. :-) Have a great one! Hugs!

  5. Oh Benita, I love your thinking outside the box literally, and bringing a new dimension to a spring tablescape. The splash of orange was so unexpected, but lovely none-the-less. Tulips are perfect for Spring and the bright orange says "wake-up" to all the other pastel colored tulips! The choices you made for your plate stack gives a depth of interest to your table. Your crafty DIY on the terra cotta pots is so YOU. I would expect your talent to show up for lunch or dinner and there it is among the lilies and tulips. I adore the fallen lily petal...so natural and as you said, life is not perfect and it is ok to" keep it real". The quote by Anne Bradstreet is the icing on the cake, I love it. Great job on your "jumping into the fray" of Seasonal Blog Hops. Hugs my sweet friend.

    1. Kari, thank you so very much for your sweet words. I never do things the "normal" way, so normal spring colors wouldn't work...LOL I never know how my tablescapes are going to fall into place until I get that centerpiece together. :-)I have enjoyed the blog tour very much and look forward to participating again! Thank you all for being so welcoming to me! Love and hugs sweet friend!

  9. Benita, your use of neutrals with some pop or color and patterns is stunning. I love the use of simplistic elements in nature to really set the theme in a tablescape. You certainly have conveyed that a tablescape need not be filled to the brim with an over abundance of decor to be elegant and beautiful. I love your use of clean lines as in the runner, black lantern and black and white buffalo check pillows. So beautiful as it is comfortable. Love the choice of colored tulips too. (And yes, here in Wisconsin, it would be nice to contemplate on the thought "if we had no winter".)

    1. Thank you so much! After the holidays, I prefer a more streamlined look on the table...much more simplistic. In Texas, we barely have winter. Since I enjoy winter so much, it's disappointing to not have a lot of cold weather. Thank you again! Hugs!

  14. I love that color tulip! I snap them up whenever I'm lucky enough to find them. Your table is so elegant, it definitely screams spring! And I live in a state that gets battered by winter's wrath from November to April. While I do enjoy a little chill and snow durning the holidays, I'd be ok if spring began on January 1. If only!!

I will happily trade winters...we have cold spurts but they never last. Monday it was 23, tomorrow 75...UGH...LOL Love and hugs!

  17. Benita, your table is lovely. I am currently in my contemporary styled condominium in Ohio so your table is especially appealing to me. This would look perfect right on my dining table. The placement of your vase of flowers in the open frame metal house is just perfect, as are the bright orange tulips. I appreciate the pretty napkin fold, something I keep saying I am going to learn, but have not yet taken the first step. Thank you so much for joining in our convivial group of table stylists!

  19. Everything looks lovely...and those tulips!!!! (sigh) I guess I'm one of the few that really enjoys the winter. Of course, it doesn't get all snowy and too cold here in south GA! I love enjoying a good book by our fireplace, wearing all my boots & scarves, and snuggling under the blankets:) I like spring but it just reminds me of the 100 degree days that are coming...ugh!!!

    1. Cheri, thank you so much! I fell in love with that color of tulips. I love winter, we just don't get enough of it. I love all the winter attire and love having a fire, but we just don't get to do it that often. Spring/summer and part of fall here in Texas are miserable! :-) Hugs!

  23. Benita, your tablescape is simple elegance! Everything just works, from the texture in the runner to the neutral color scheme with the pop of orange from the tulips. I love how you used black accents on the chargers, flower pots, centerpiece and the buffalo check pillow. And I love the folded napkins too! Modern design is not my usual style, but I have to say that I really love this! It's such a pleasure to have you join us on this hop. Happy Spring!

Sometimes it’s normal, sometimes, it is way different. 😊 I’ve enjoyed the table tour this week and am looking forward to doing it again! Hugs!
