Do Not Seek the Treasure...

...a line from one of my favorite movies O Brother Where Art Thou.  I'm not a George Clooney fan, but he is great in this movie.  Just a little segue-way into my post about treasure hunting!

Some of you call it "junking" or "flea marketing" or "thrifting".  Regardless of what you call it, the result is always the same - you come home with a treasure! Treasures come in all shapes and sizes.

They are found at any location, sometimes just sitting on the side of the road.  Discarded and alone.  Begging to be picked up and given a new home -- you know, like the stray cat or puppy.  The only difference is that you don't have to feed your treasures, de-worm them or give them shots!  They just happily follow you home and sit where you place them.

On one of my recent treasure hunts, these items followed me home!  They were begging me.  Except for this guy, he was flirting.

What woman in her right mind can resist flirting...EVER??!!!  So what's a girl to do?  Snatch him up and take him home.  The hubby didn't even mind, just loaded him right up in the car with us.

I also found this little princess.  Isn't she beautiful?

Look at those dainty feet?

Just gorgeous!  She was the first thing I saw when I walked into the store.  I knew immediately that she would be coming home with me.

Her hips are little wide, but so are mine.  Maybe we can share clothes? And speak French to each other.

This crate is so rustic, so manly.

I know exactly what is going to happen to him.  He will turn up in a post later this week!

This little gem will also be in a future post...maybe disguised as a pillow, or 2!

Am I the only one who gives personalities to found treasures?  Surely not!

This guy is so fun, I just couldn't resist him either.

He asked me to go surfing, but since I'm not crazy about ocean water (I was once stung by a jellyfish), I had to turn him down.

I did offer to let him rest at my house between surfing jaunts.  He accepted!

I have a love/hate relationship with these guys.

My childhood was full of skinned knees and bruised elbows due to their inability to function properly.  I brought them home anyway -- I needed some summer things in the house.

I'm looking forward to seeing what I do with them.  Aren't you?

Happy HUMPDAY!

    1. Hi Melissa, thank you so much! It's not actually a sugar bowl, it is a waste bowl. I thought it was a sugar bowl as well, just missing the top. But the lady at the store said it was used for emptying crumbs and such from the table. A nice way to carry them to the trash! :-) And you are quite welcome! I can't wait to see the new fireplace!

  7. I love everything that you got! The crate is from Indianapolis, only a few hours from me. Very cool. I remember those skates too, they did not roll very well, but we had fun with them!

    1. Thank you! And how awesome is that!! Yeah, the skates were difficult to skate in, thus the multiple skinned knees! :-)

  9. Beautiful treasures! That happens to be a favorite movie in our house. My husband and our son, take turns quoting quotes from the movie, especially about the treasure and the toad. My daughters are looking for roller skates, I will have to show them your photo. Visiting from Rue's. Have a wonderful Easter weekend!

  10. Great treasures! But, the little blue Volkswagon made me catch my breath. Not because I'm a surfer, but because my first brand NEW car was a VW bug, green not blue.

    Happy jaunting.
