Welcoming Fall....

....to our new home!

I presume you are stopping by from So Much Better With Age, since she is on the tour before me.  Doesn't she have a beautiful home?  Have you enjoyed all the homes on the tour?  I hope so!  They are all gorgeous!

We are finally "in" the new house and are working on getting settled.  I have also been frantically working on trying to get some fall decor in place for Brenda's Fall Home Tour!

I was absolutely thrilled when she asked me to join all of the other fabulous bloggers and be a part of this tour!  I've been excited for weeks...probably more excited than buying a new house!

Since we have been in limbo with the move, I don't have a lot of things to show, primarily because there is still a mess in every room of the house.  And, as much as I love the autumn season, I don't put out a lot of fall decorations until after Halloween.  I love decorating for Halloween and don't want to have to remove a lot of things to get ready for it.

I was going to hop all over the house with photos, but decided to do the right thing and start with the porch...

...better get a good look at those beautiful mums today because they will be dead tomorrow!  I just have that effect on plants....they die when they see me...it's just easier on both of us that way.

Since my stick purchases have turned into a running joke on the blog (and on Instagram...you can find me at ChasingQuaintness), I decided to show you the bookcase...

...with a cute little pumpkin that decided to nestle next to my pretty stick!

This is my desk...where I would write my blog if I had internet at home....

While it is not my dream office space yet, I hope that it will be one day in the near future!  I chose to decorate the desk with a small pumpkin and some vintage orange books.  One of those books even has the name of our son printed on it...

...I don't think it's about him though. ;-)  Oh, and his name is Stanton, not Cracker!

I have quite a bit of neutral color in the house.  This allows me to add pops of color for each season.  Just a few little pumpkin candles on the dining table...

...along with some colored napkins and a cute chair pillow.  I found the adorable fabric pumpkins at one of my favorite antique flea markets when we lived in Dallas.

These cute rain boots sit under the table in the entry and were a thrift store find....

...probably need a new pair soon, but they were perfect for some faux fall foliage...try saying that three times really fast!

This little guy has turned out to be my favorite...surprisingly.

Every part of the house is flooded with light, so my photos are a bit off.  We've promised the neighbors (and the construction workers) that we would have blinds very soon.  So far the only excitement they've seen is me washing dishes and having hot flashes!

That's all I've got for you today...I know, not as much as some of the other homes, but unpacking boxes is a full-time job and the elves are on strike!

I'm so glad you've stopped by and I hope you will visit again soon!  Be sure to visit the next home, Karla's Cottage!  You will love her home!

I will leave you with a few more photos...

...and a list of the homes for today!

Thank you again so much for stopping by!

    1. Girl, it has been busy, busy around our place. Thank you so much….the wreath is from Big Lots…who’d a thunk it??!! When I saw it, I knew it would be perfect for that chair! While that stick may be a running joke, I’m so glad I bought it.  It fits perfectly with those frames and that little pumpkin! You are so sweet! Thank you so much for your sweet encouragement and compliments! You are just too funny and I cannot tell you how much all of your support means to me!! I’m so glad we’ve become friends and enjoy all of our conversations!! The flashing will continue for a while, unfortunately, and I think my problem with plants is that I nurture them to death!! LOL Much love and hugs to you my sweet friend! Hope you have a fabulous weekend!! xoxo

We are glad that all the uproar has settled down and that we can finally enjoy the house and finish the decorating. The light is great, but I need those blinds to help control some of it...the neighbors would say get them because we are tired of watching you have dinner every night...LOL. Thank you again so much and congratulations on that new baby!! Much love and hugs and hope to see you before too long!

i'd say you have lived up to that esteemed gentleman of taste.
and i know you're expecting and anticipating BLINDS... but the very phrase ... "flooded with light" is so lovely!

I wish that we didn’t have to have them because the light is wonderful in the mornings. Unfortunately, living in a neighborhood dictates that we have some modesty about us and put up blinds.

I hope you are resting while reading these blog posts and taking care of yourself!! :-) Much love and hugs to you and feel better soon my sweet friend!!

  18. Great tour layout - come in thru the door past the lovely white chair, pumpkin and runner and the first and last thing I see is your magical white stick precariously perched on a sharp angled end. I pondered if this was wired to the frames then managed to pull myself away from this stick eye candy to take the rest of the tour. I settled on nope, no wires involved, it was just magic the same magic that brought us our first glimpse of your new house for a beautiful fall tour in 16 days since your possession! Me thinks you learned some tricks from the witches in Salem to pull this off in such short time!

Be sure to kill you Mum plant before Halloween so you can claim it was intentional then spray paint it black to add some festive bleakness to my favorite holiday!

    1. Kari, you are just so sweet and thank you so much! Nope, no wires, but I did consider it. :-) It is "precariously perched"...LOL My secret is being OCD and very "anal" about things...I just can't stand the mess and have been working to get things picked up and put away...the hubster thinks I'm fiend-ish, but he has called me a "witch" a couple of times...thinks I've got some wicked powers or something...LOL.

What an awesome idea!! That is just wonderful and Halloween is our most favorite time also! We met at Halloween and wanted a Halloween wedding....having everyone come dressed in costume. But we chose an alternate date...July 4th. Not nearly as fun or interesting! :-) Hope you you have a great weekend!!

Wow, so pretty! I love your dark wood floors in the dining room and the contrast between the floor and your dining chairs. I love all the neutral, so pretty! And the antelope head too! Love!
My favorite thing is your Choc-ola box, I've seen that before on your blog and love it!
Your home looks very warm and inviting...can I come over? I see drink decanters! ;)
I hear you on the mums...I bought mine a couple of weeks ago, too early, since it's been high 80's all week...they like sun, but not full sun and it's been too hot! I have been using my dead mums to decorate for Halloween for years now. I put the faux spider web stuff on them and stick a few plastic spiders in the web and it makes a great Halloween decoration on the front porch!
Can't wait to see the rest of your home...but not before you take a well needed break!

And yes, you are welcome to come over any time...I would enjoy it greatly! :-) Those decanters were empty, but have now been refilled! ;-)

I'm really liking those mums for Halloween and am glad I have an alternate plan for them, rather than just throwing them in the trash when they die!! :-) I love all of the great ideas that get shared on blogs!
