I realized that I never got around to writing my post on the hubster's Dang Quesadillas (pronounced [key-suh-dee-uh]...those "l's" are silent people) he likes to eat with my Sizzlin' Homemade Salsa. You can find the salsa post here!
Two facts about the hubster...he loves the movie Napoleon Dynamite....
...and he loves quesadillas!
This is how he makes his "Dang Quesadillas"....no secret ingredients here...just plain and simple.
Start with 2 large flour tortillas. On the bottom tortilla, he adds ham, shredded cheddar cheese, provolone cheese, pepper jack cheese (do you see a trend?), chicken (if we have it) and a few other cheeses and meats that we might have on hand. He will also add a few tablespoons of the homemade Sizzlin' Salsa. Add the other tortilla on top and be ready to throw it in the skillet...but you will need to melt some butter in the skillet before you add the quesadilla.
Once the skillet is hot, add your quesadilla. Cook until brown on the bottom and until some of those cheeses have started to melt. Then, flip it over and cook until brown and melty...yes, it's a word! Remove the quesadilla from the pan and cut into whatever size chunks will fit in your mouth! ;-) If you are lady-like, quarter it.
That's it...one and done! You can make another if you have a large appetite. Guess who usually makes himself another quesadilla??!!

Now that's one movie I've never seen, may not get around to it in my lifetime! But yes, his quesadillas look delicious--all those cheeses, yes!
ReplyDeleteDewena, it is a very different kind of movie, one that you have to watch several times before you enjoy it...LOL. Edward loves adding all the different cheeses. Me, I'm a one cheese kind of woman...LOL
DeleteOh I got so nostalgic! That was one of my kids' favorites--dance moves, dang quesadillas and just so many great quotes, lol! The DQs look delicious ;)
ReplyDeleteWe love this movie! The dance was hysterical and don't forget the "tots"...you are so right..the quotes are awesome! My husband's ringtone for me is "I like her bangs" and for his dad it's "How much you wanna make a bet I can throw a football over them mountains". He also had a shirt that said "Vote for Pedro"....we are little touched...LOL. Thanks so much! :-)
DeleteOh Wow, yes we love our Dang Quesadi-llas (my mom, bless her heart, pronounces the Ls), and your hubby's looks Dang Delicious! Thanks for the giggles with the mom in the video! Classic! I could have a house full of food, and my children could never find what they'd like to eat, but they will never turn down a quesadilla! ;) Hope you are getting all settled in! Have a fab week! Hugs, Christine
ReplyDeleteLOL…bless her heart…it’s okay, I’ve heard quite a few people pronounce the “Ls”…LOL. Edward will also when he’s quoting the movie. The movie is hilarious! It took me a while to warm up to it, but now, it is one of our classic favs. And you are so right….kids (and hubbies) will complain about food, until mention quesadillas and then they jump all over it. They are apparently better than a PB&J “sammich”….LOL Thanks so much girl and I hope you are having a fabulous week also! Hugs!!
DeleteOne of my favorite movies too. It's right up there with Caddy Shack. Everytime I watch it I see something new. So funny.
ReplyDeleteOh girl, do not get me started on Caddy Shack....we LOVE that movie also....it's hard to imagine these movies as "classics", but they are definitely that and keep us entertained for hours...LOL I bet you love Christmas Vacation also??!!! :-)
DeleteYummy! I made burritos tonight that were so hard to pick up and eat....why didn't I think to make them like a quesadilla? A tortilla on the bottom and a tortilla on top.My hubby would love your hubby's version....lots of meat and cheese. Make mine with veggies please!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much....the hubster has been perusing comments for his "pats on the back" about his quesadillas...LOL. Men...meat and potatoes, meat and cheese, meat and meat....it all makes them happy! :-) I'm with you...some veggies are a good mix!
DeleteHi Benita! :)
ReplyDeleteHam in a Ques-a-Dill-a? ;) Well, I do eat peanut butter and banana sandwiches, so who am I to judge! ;) These look amazing, and all the cheese makes it sound even better!! We ate at our favorite Mexican restaurant here on the weekend and I swear I could eat that three meals a day! I will have to try this recipe! I bet it tastes great with your salsa recipe too!! Hugs, Kimberley :)
Hey girl! Yes, he likes ham and any other type of meat he can throw in there....the other night it was leftover meatloaf...LOL. PB&B sandwiches are really good! :-) You and Elvis...LOL We had our favorite Mexican restaurant in Dallas and ate there all the time...like you...three meals a day and it's all good. We are still looking for a favorite out here in Nashville! And he does love them with the homemade salsa...I just eat all the salsa and leave little spoonfuls for him! ;-) Hugs!!
DeleteThese look awesome! I mostly have them in restaurants and they are pretty bland. Thanks for the incentive to try something GOOD!
ReplyDeleteJane xx
P.S. In Gatlinburg right now. A little wild but we are in a cabin deep in the woods up in the mountains---roughing it for sure. As long as I don't have a bear tapping on the window, I'm good!
I’m so jealous!!! A cabin deep in the woods up in the mountains of Gatlinburg???!!! Heaven, pure heaven!! I love it there in the winter…a little snow on the ground, a fire in the fireplace, a good book, some hot chocolate….ahhhhh. Hey, y’all have to see that silly show, Hatfields and McCoys, if you haven’t already….but find discount tickets it’s not worth full price. It is a dinner show…not high society, obviously, with the name of the show…LOL. It’s not great, but will definitely make you laugh! :-)
DeleteTry these quesadillas with the homemade salsa…not bland and you will love them! Have a great trip! Hugs!!
What? Your husband makes quesadillas? He's a keeper :).
ReplyDeleteYou know what my hubby makes? Toast.
Burnt toast.
LMAO...oh Doreen, I cannot stop laughing! I will let you borrow my guy so he can cook for you...LOL. He is a great cook...when I will let him in the kitchen! :-) Burnt toast...that is hilarious!!!
DeleteYum! My husband makes a mean quesadilla too...never seen the movie though!
ReplyDeleteHoney, y’all so need to watch the movie…but at least 7 times…because you won’t like it until the 7th time around! :-)
DeleteYUM ! Of course he'd eat two they look delicious :)
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Deb....and he usually does eat two....he loves them!! :-)
DeleteOK... I have never seen "Napoleon Dynamite" And I have never had a Da*n Quesadilla. How pathetic is that????? -grinnnn-
ReplyDeleteWoman….you need to come down here and plop on the sofa with me….we can watch this movie and have the hubster serve us some quesadillas and tater tots (another big deal in the movie)! Oh, and after that, we can watch The Big Lebowski and you can get a White Russian…the best part about The Big Lebowski?? Sam Elliott!!! :-) We have movie theme food, obviously…LOL Hugs!!
DeleteI can't believe that you mentioned "Napoleon Dynamite". My boss was just asking me yesterday if I had ever seen it (I have not) because he was telling me about this boy that was playing tennis against his son and said he acted just like the guy in that movie. Now I guess I will have to watch it.....Oh and these Quesadillas look fantastic.....I haven't ever tried to make them but I think I will give it a try. YUMMY!
ReplyDeleteLOL...it is a great movie...okay, it's not great...it's just classically silly and stupid, but you have to watch it! Oh my gosh...I would love to see that because Jon Heder is hilarious in the movie...he's such a geeky little guy! Thank you so much! The hubster will be proud that people this his quesadillas look good! :-) Yes, watch the movie...but you have to watch it about 7 times before you will like it! :-) Let me know what you think about the movie and the quesadillas (use the homemade salsa recipe with them)! Hugs! :-)
DeleteHappy Autumn! My goodness, those quesadillas looks delicious and I love what your hubby named them. It looks like I've been pronouncing them wrong all this time, too.
ReplyDeleteMy daughter loves Napoleon Dynamite and I've watched it with her a couple of times. I loved the dance towards the end... :)
Happy Autumn to you! Isn’t fall wonderful!!??!!
DeleteThank you so much! The hubster has been looking over the comments for compliments on his dish…LOL. Yep, his name for them is from the movie and he loves that movie! :-) It is hilarious…that dance kills me…well, everything Jon Heder does in that movie kills me…it is hilarious! And Kip, his brother…there are no words for that guy…LOL
Ooh I just love cheese too ... and there are so many great varieties out there!
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
There are so many wonderful flavors...I mainly prefer sharp cheddars, but the hubster seems to love them all! Thanks so much Jan!
DeleteBenita,
ReplyDeleteQuesadilla... real Texan food....
Judith
Yes ma’am….and the hubster misses the food terribly! :-)

Will have to try your husband's recipe! ~Hope you have a wonderful weekend! ...and thanks for the kind and encouraging comments you always leave on my blog, they brighten my day! :) ~Rhonda
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Rhonda! The hubster can make food look decent when he takes a mind to do so! :-) Since they are so easy to make, they are a wonderful afternoon snack or something. I hope you have a wonderful weekend also and you are so welcome! I really enjoy your blog and appreciate the comments you leave as well! I like chatting and getting to know other bloggers and commenting is always a great start! :-) Hugs!!
DeleteCRYING LAUGHING!!!!!! I love when you include a pronunciation like your Cornbread post. :) I love Napoleon Dynamite too. The dancing part was my favorite part and to this day, I think of that dance when I hear that song. :)
ReplyDeleteI figure it makes the post a little bit more interesting to add some video and pronunciations…LOL. We love the movie also and watch it every time it is on…even though we have the DVD!...LOL
