Watermelon Crawl...

I love watermelon during the summer!  It is so tasty, light and refreshing...a perfect summer treat! So when I found this mix at the store I had to buy it to give it a try.

The best word to describe these cupcakes....SSSAAAAWWWEEEETTT.  They are good but have a bizarre little twang to them.

Pink batter, complete with "seeds"...nice!

The cupcakes are spongy and light (I used a square pan and still had muffin top!).

They smell like watermelon, but don't exactly have a true watermelon flavor. I think watermelon is just one of those fruits that you have to have the right carrier to duplicate the flavor.

Here are a few other "watermelon" items for your entertainment:

Q: When do you go at red and stop at green?
A: When you're eating a watermelon.
Q: Why do watermelons have fancy weddings?
A: Because they cantaloupe.

When you get through laughing at those HI-LAR-I-OUS jokes, watch this video and learn how to do the Watermelon Crawl!

Why isn't anyone "crawling" in the video?

Happy Friday!

  1. Hmmm. I have never seen that flavor cupcakes before and you are brave to try!! What exactly are the seeds in the batter? I wonder...

    1. I couldn’t find anything on the box to tell me what the seeds were. So I closed my eyes when I took the first bite and was prepared to spit it out, just in case…LOL. Maybe that’s why they have a little funky taste for me…I pre-conditioned my taste buds. For me, the seeds fell into the “inquiring minds don’t want to know, just close your eyes and eat it” category! :-)

    1. Kris, thank you! My post needed a little something extra, so I found the jokes (utter silliness) and video. I like dance videos and hope others do as well! :-)

  3. These are Old Rope Swing Cupcakes
They're like when you were a kid, standing on that high tree limb grabbing onto that old, rotted rope swing and thinking, "No good could possibly come from this, but it's going to be fun!" That's these cupcakes. You can tell they aren't healthy when you bite in. You want healthy, eat a Big Mac... at least it has some wilted lettuce-substance. And as for the "seeds" - we'll go with chocolate chips. I like chocolate chips.

    1. Chocolate chips sound good for the seeds. We will imagine that is what they were! :-)

  4. Watermelon... one of favorite summer fruits. My granddaddy used to grow watermelons mixed in his cotton fields so we always had watermelons. He would put them in a spring-fed watering hole to cool them down. Oh the memories of eating watermelons on the front porch with juice running down your arms from holding the melon to bite into it....

    1. What a wonderful memory of your grandfather! I love watermelon and we used to be the same way…juice pouring down our arms and juice all over our cheeks from where we buried our faces in the rind trying to eat our way out….eating watermelon is one of the best things about summer! Oh, to be a kid again……

  5. Watermelon cupcakes!?! I like my melons straight from the garden. My grandfather would pick a good one form his garden, throw it on the picnic table, and hit it with a machete. It thrilled us to death - juice went flying everywhere! The rinds were saved to make pickles.

    1. It was bizarre to me also Donna, that's why I had to try it! What an awesome childhood memory you have as well....a true treat for kids. But I don't think kids today enjoy it the way we did when we were little. I don't know if I've ever had a watermelon rind pickle. Were they good?
