Silver Bell Bottles...

We are never too old to try something new, right?!  Monday night, for the first time ever, I drank a glass of eggnog...Southern Comfort Vanilla Spice to be exact!  It was delicious and will be a part of our Christmas holidays from now on.  Why did I wait so long to try this wonderful beverage?  I suppose my twisted brain thought it would be horrible...and it is...40,000 calories a glassful!  Like I don't indulge in enough sweets during the holidays, I'm now adding something else that is rich, creamy, wonderful and oh, so yummy!!

Now on to the project!  Earlier this year, I wrote about these little bottles I made.....

...so I thought I would share the post for the holidays.  These "Silver Bell Bottles" would be a great Christmas present or a way to add a little bling to your decor.  They can be rustic or refined, depending on how you choose to display them.

My previous post, Through The Looking Glass, was about creating these bottles to use in a vignette.  It was a relatively simple, inexpensive project and the bottles turned out so cute!

Since I never really gave them a proper name, I decided to call them "Silver Bell Bottles".  They are silver in color, they ting when you hit them with something and they are bottles. *Ding*

Let me know what you think!  I will be enjoying yet another glass of eggnog while you make these! :-)

  1. So glad you have joined the many women around the world that LOVE eggnog and are not afraid to indulge in it! I love the stuff but I do go lightly! Your silver bells bottles are adorable. I love how you have them displayed with dinnerware.

    1. Thank you so much! I always thought that eggnog was something that tasted really gross. This tastes like a wonderful vanilla spice milkshake...I know some people put bourbon or rum in their eggnog, but plain Jane works for me! :-)

  4. Ha, your first glass of eggnog. :-)
I like it too. My husband made it from scratch a few times.
    I love the bottles.

    1. Thank you so much! They were pretty easy to make and I'm so glad they turned out well...I was nervous...LOL. The Southern Comfort was really good...tastes like a vanilla spice milkshake...mine was unspiked, but I think you can use bourbon or rum...of course, Southern Comfort recommends Southern Comfort! LOL

  7. The blast from your blog past I have been thinking more about recently is your Peppermint Sugar Scrub from June 19th http://chasingquaintness.blogspot.ca/2015/06/incense-and-peppermints.html I can’t think of anyone who needs a Peppermint Sugar Scrub more than Santa to get all that Chimney soot out after his zillion stops on Christmas Eve-can you? So I have been toying with making some to put out instead of the usual plate of milk and cookies. No, no it’s not all about bribing and hoping Santa will over look a few of my indiscretions this year –this is 2015 and I am pretty sure Santa is as metro as the next guy these days and would totally enjoy it ;)

The only thing stopping me is my raging sweet tooth - I would likely EAT it all long before Santa gets here - it sounds totally edible simply by the spoonful, or sprinkled in place of cinnamon sugar on toast, on top of ice cream or cookies etc etc --- that is if I didn’t use it all for rimming my gold decorated Christmas Cocktail glasses first! So with all that in mind, thinking out loud… if I made a set of these cute Silver bell bottles I could rim them all too so every time I grabbed a spoon I would get a spoonful of sugar too – told you I had a wicked sweet tooth! Hmmm maybe I SHOULD decorate more so I don’t have time to think about sugar! haha!

    1. I am planning on reposting the Peppermint Sugar Scrub next week….it does smell so wonderful and it was truly hard for me not to take a big spoon of it. My sweet tooth is getting me into trouble also. I found some Hot Chocolate flavored M&Ms the other day and some Gingerbread Oreos today….UGH…the holidays are killing me…LOL

And yes, make the scrub and put it out for Santa! :-) Hugs sweet friend!

  8. Benita,
I love eggnog, the non-alcoholic version. My favorite is made by Borden's and used to come in a can. Now it comes in a box. You refrigerate after it is opened. It is so RICH, much more so than the refrigerated versions. I can only drink a very small amount at a time, with a dash nutmeg on top. Silver Bell Bottles is a perfect name. Ding-a-ling....a-ling...

P.S. An Overstock.com ad for Festive Holiday Stemware glasses with lots of little gold polka dots is showing up in your sidebar. Hahahahah...

    1. This is non-alcoholic also. I don't know if I will like it with alcohol, but may give it a taste. I enjoy it so much just the way it is, that I probably won't like the taste. :-) I haven't seen the Borden's, but then again, since I found this, I haven't looked for any other. I will fix some for everyone Christmas Eve and garnish with nutmeg also...it looks so pretty. I did find a great homemade recipe so that I can have it next spring...LOL. And thank you on the Silver Bell Bottles.... :-) How interesting....LOL

  9. These are gorgeous and they really look like mercury glass! Thanks for all of your great ideas...I'm always amazed by the varied posts you do on all sorts of ideas.

I've never tried homemade eggnog. Hubby bought a few bottles for Thanksgiving and no one wanted to touch it! lol! Maybe I'll get brave!

    1. Thank you so much! I was so afraid it was going to be another one of my craft flops, but I was so pleased with them. You are welcome….I just find all sorts of things on Pinterest and it is the luck of the draw as to which ones I decide to gamble on. Most of the time they are a crap shoot….LOL.

Southern Comfort Vanilla Spice is the only experience I have. Taste what he brought home, it should still be good (check the date) and doctor it up with vanilla, nutmeg and cinnamon. This stuff is wonderful and I found it at Walmart. I am going to try making some homemade and see how that works….may be one of my crap shoots…LOL Let me know if you try it! :-) Hugs!

  10. Eggnog is so good, isn't it?? And yes, I believe there are exactly 40,000 calories in each cup! You always make me laugh out loud. I love that!! ;)

Hmm, egg nog...I love it...BUT...I am lactose intolerant...BUT...if you put liquor in it that cancels out the lactose issue, right? ;)
I hope that you are having a wonderful weekend!!
