Forgotten Christmas Movies...

Everyone has their favorite Christmas movies...some popular, some not so popular.  Some movies are centered around the Christmas holidays but are never actually remembered as official Christmas movies, but they technically fall into the Christmas movie category.

One of the movies that is not thought of as the "traditional" Christmas movie is Trading Places.  This movie was released in June 1983 and never marketed as a Christmas movie, but it is a Christmas movie...as it is centered around Christmas.  Of course it isn't filled with glad tidings, but seems to be chocked full of "do unto others"!  :-)

We love this movie!

Another movie that is not traditionally known as a "Christmas movie" is The Apartment...an oldie but a goodie.  It was also released in June....of 1960...and never marketed as a Christmas movie.

It doesn't come on TV every year, but when it shows up, we watch it.

This guy used to be popular...then, he just sort of fell out of favor with John Q. Public, but his role in Lethal Weapon was outstanding!

Released in March 1987 and never marketed as a Christmas movie, it falls into the Christmas movie zone by default...it takes place at Christmas.

Die Hard...another summer release, but yes, it is a Christmas movie...whether we like to admit it or not.  All of this bloody, gory action happens at Christmas and is not one of my favorite Christmas movies...I would bet it isn't on your list either!

Yippee ki yay!

So there you have it....a few Christmas movies that you would never consider "Christmas" movies.  These movies do not leave you with that warm, snuggly feeling and made the naughty list for Christmas!

    1. Trading Places is hilarious...The Apartment is a little dark and the other 2 are full of violence...Die Hard has more than Lethal Weapon.

  4. I really liked all those movies. My all-time favorite is the classic It's A Wonderful Life, but the movie I watch all year round and extra at Christmas is Love, Actually. I watched it twice today.

  6. Where do you find time to watch all these movies on top of your busy life? Since you did not have a quiz for us last wk I have one for you – which Christmas movie is this quote from – it cracks me up! “ You know, I’ll never forget the day you hired me. There I was sitting at the agency will all the other girls. I was afraid you were gonna take Evelyn.”

    1. I’ve watched them over the years…in spare minutes hither and yon…LOL. It is from Holiday Affair, of course. Great movie and great line!!! I recorded it over the weekend.  My poor December posts have been all over the place! I was hoping to have a giveaway, but that will have to wait until January. Hope you had a great weekend!! Hugs!!

  7. I remember loving The Apartment but haven't watched it in years, will look for it. I love movies that have Christmas in them, whether they're Christmas movies or not. I seem to never have time to get through them in December but enjoy them even in January. One movie I watch even in July is Family Man with Nicholas Cage and Tea Leoni. Such a good values theme movie.

I hope your frazzledness is smoothing out, Benita! And that you have a lovely Christmas in your beautiful new home. May every blessing be yours in 2016!
    My love to you,
    Dewena

    1. We, like you, watch Christmas movies long after the holiday is gone. And Family Man is another great movie! We like watching the “Christmas in July” movies when the stations show all of the Christmas movies. And of course, Elf is on all year-round it seems!

The frazzledness is much better and “all is calm”, thank you! :-) I hope you and the family have a most wonderfully blessed Christmas and wish you all of the blessings for the new year as well! Love and hugs to you sweet Dewena!!
