Just pretend you are hearing the intro to the song by Mungo Jerry...yep, that's right...bob your head a little. :-)
Sorry for being a little MIA this week...we are still recovering from our Master Bedroom Makeover! I needed some down time away from the computer and away from anything that required me to use a paintbrush or a tool!
Now that I've had a good refresh, I want to share some tablescape ideas for summer! Chloe at Celebrate and Decorate always hosts such fun week-long tablescape parties and I appreciate all of her hard work in rounding us up! Please be sure to check out the links at the bottom of my post for other ideas to decorate your dining table in summer style...you won't be disappointed and will find lots of inspiration!
Since summer always reminds me of the beach, I decided to decorate my summer table with a beachy theme...is that a word? Nope? Well, it is today!
I'm still enjoying the lantern frame, so I decided to find something that would work well with it for my centerpiece. I found this spindly-leg Heron. He's a little different but he works with the lantern.
I found the Rae Dunn plates with different beach words at HomeGoods...I loved the color of the print. I know some of you are shocked to see me veer away from my neutral color palette, but I do love 50 shades of blue!
I made my flatware holders out of pockets from old blue-jeans. Just cut around the shape of the pocket and be sure to include the back. They are perfect for a casual table setting. The little starfish add some texture and look cute just sitting around. :-)
For me, summer is a time for less-formal dining and a casual decorating style. I picked pieces that contain colors that remind me of the beach and that add layers of texture. The cut glass in the small bowls adds some fancy sparkle...
...while the wooden buoy sculptures add a casual feel to the table and break up the varying shades of blue.
The surfboard bottle openers have varying colors of blue which tie in with the other colors on the table.
Since they are made of wood, they also compliment the buoys. My stemware is plastic (gasp), I know, right?!
But when you have guests wondering in and out with their drinks, it's best to be safe if an accident should occur.
I hope you've enjoyed looking at all of the gorgeous tables this week as well my non-traditional summer table!
I've included the links below so that you can go back and look at them all over again!

Love the surf board bottle opener, very unique, and all the colours tie in well together. The little denim pockets are very clever. Your dining guests are in for a treat!
ReplyDeleteThank you! I thought they were different and would add something unique to the table! I like different, that's for sure! :-)
DeleteThat table is so adorable! I really love the cool blue and neutral shades - the perfect calm after a makeover storm! The jean pockets holding flatware? First thing I though of was all those jeans I purged..... oh well.....

Thank you so much Rita! I'm surprised I chased after blue tones for this table...so not like me at all! :-) You will probably see those pockets again next month...they are perfect for a casual table! Is the song stuck in your head too?!! LOL Love and hugs!
DeleteYour beach inspired table is perfect for summer. The blue jean pocket flatware holder is adorable along with the surf board bottle opener. It has been a fun blog hop and my pleasure to sit at your lovely table this morning. Have a wonderful weekend!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Pam! I fell in love with those surfboard bottle openers...I thought they were just too cute and knew they were coming home with me. :-) It has been a lot of fun and I've enjoyed visiting with all of you again! Looking forward to next month! Have a great holiday weekend! Hugs!
DeleteLove your beachy tablescape my sweet friend. And the jeans flatware holder is perfect, clever girl. I smiled when I saw the spindly-legged heron, as they are a common sight here in Florida and I am always fascinated by them. Where did you get the surf board bottle opener? Love it and the various shades of blue and turquoise that tie into your darling beach plates. Glad to see you are singing as you are decorating...welcome to my world!! ;) (My post today starts with yet another song. ...is there no hope?) Hugs and Love
ReplyDeleteThank you so much! I got the idea of the jean pocket flatware holder off of Home and Family. They have so many cute project ideas. Herons are something we never see here in Texas...I guess unless you are at the beach...LOL I found those cute bottle openers at Hobby Lobby. I thought they were adorable and I too loved the variation of colors...it helped really blend my table! YES, I've always got some "theme" music going to inspire me on these projects...LOL. Love and hugs sweet friend!
DeleteYour tablescape is lovely and makes me want to head to the beach. Not sure if we are going this summer though:( I don't do much with table settings but from time to time I will swap out placemats and dishes for my husband and myself. I actually found some fabulous mats and plates recently at Dollar Tree!!!! I was shocked. The colors were so summery! I got coral colored mats and lime green dishes. Wish now I had bought some of the other colors but they are all gone now! Can't believe summer is already here!!! Not my favorite time of year but hopefully this summer will be a fun one.
ReplyDeleteCheri, thank you so much! I'm so ready to hit the beach this year! Normally, it is not one of my favorite places to go for a vacation, but this year, it just feels right! Dollar Tree seems to be stepping up their game in the decoration department and like you, I've found some really cute things there! Oh, I bet the coral and lime green look beautiful! Summer isn't my favorite time of year either, I'm all about fall and winter. But as quickly as time is going by, it will be here before you know it! Hugs!
DeleteThanks for the beachy inspiration! Love your beach word plates and heron centerpiece. The soft blue accents are perfect for your theme and make me want to go to the beach!
ReplyDeleteThe denim pockets for flatware is a functional and decorative element.
Have a lovely weekend.
Thank you so much Bonnie. Those Rae Dunn plates were so cute, I just couldn’t resist and they were melamine, which makes them great for outdoor/indoor dining. I’m sooooo ready for some beach time! 😊 Hope you have a great holiday weekend! Hugs!
DeleteWhat a fun beachy table setting!
ReplyDeleteThank you Penny! I hope you are having a great weekend and have a big holiday weekend planned! Hugs!
DeleteBenita your table is so pretty. I love all of the soothing summer colors. Makes me wish I was at the beach right now! Have a great weekend!

Thank you ma'am! I can't take credit for it, I saw it on Home and Family. That's where I get most of my craft inspiration! :-) Hope you have a fabulous holiday weekend! Love and hugs sweet friend!
DeleteWhat a fun table, I am ready to move the party out to the pool or the beach! I admit, I had to look up the song...but seeing the rest of the lyrics, I remember it well. It is a perfect reminder of summers past. The surfboard bottle opener is cute and mixes well with the natural wood buoys. The beach inspired plates and the cute jean pockets carry through your relaxed and summery table! Thank you for sharing your talents with us once again!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Chloe! I love the song, it is such a great one for the beach! I try to do theme music while I’m doing theme tables…it helps get me going for decorating. 😊 Thank you so much for your sweet words. Spring/summer tables are difficult for me because I love the fall and winter holidays so much more. When I found the wooden buoys, I tried to build the table around those and thankfully it all just fell into place! Hope you have a great holiday weekend! Thank you so ,much for including me in the hop! I’m having a good time coming up with table décor…it’s a good challenge for me! Love and hugs sweet friend!
DeleteVery cute table. The surfboard opener is so unique. Love the lantern and the best is the blue jean pockets for flatware.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Linda! I'm so glad it all just fell into place...I was struggling for a bit as to what to use...once I found one piece, I easily ran across or pieced together the rest of it! Hugs!
DeleteA perfect summer table...and it makes me feeling like running away and getting to the beach! xo Diana
ReplyDeleteThank you so much! I’m so ready for the beach and a long vacay into obscurity somewhere…LOL! Love and hugs sweet friend!
DeleteBenita, you had me at "beach"! Such a great table with the fun plates and the elements you styled for a centerpiece. What a terrific and clever idea to make the blue jean flatware pockets!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Debbee! I'm so ready for some beach time...sand squishing under my feet and the sound of waves! Perfect place to be right now! I saw the idea for the blue jean pocket holders on Home and Family! That is where I get most of my craft ideas. :-) Hope you have a great holiday weekend! Hugs!
DeleteI love your table! Your Heron is similar to my seagull. The denim pockets for the flatware are so cute. You created a wonderful tablescape. Perfect for welcoming the new season. It’s a pleasure to be on the tablescape hop with you. Hugs
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Katherine! I've enjoyed it also and am looking forward to many more! Have a great holiday weekend! Hugs!
DeleteHow fun! That bottle opener is the best! I love the whimsy, Benita! It's a pleasure to be joining you for the hop this week! Blessings, Cecilia @My Thrift Store Addiction
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Cecilia! I wanted something very casual and was glad when I ran across some of the pieces. I love those bottle openers as well! 😊 Hope you have a great holiday weekend…I had fun with this hop and looking forward to joining you all again! Hugs!
DeleteI love to see how you create different table settings with themes keeping within your signature style Benita, always fresh, with clean, modern, uncluttered look...Love the heron and those surfboard bottle openers are the best! And of course the beach plates are so you! The table is simple, yet refreshing and elegant! Hope you can relax this weekend!
ReplyDeleteJenna
Thank you so much Jenna! I struggle withe the spring/summer decor since I love fall and winter so much! My table for then gets a little bit more busy, but not much! Thank you for your sweet words, I appreciate it greatly! Hope you have a wonderful holiday weekend! Hugs!
DeleteSuper cute beachy table!! I love the mix of the wood tones with the shades of blues, it makes for a nice relaxed summer table. Yep - I would say it is time to pull out the plastic wine glasses - we use those a lot in the summer. Here's to a wonderful relaxing summer!!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Ann! The beach has been on my mind quite a bit and I’m so ready to spend some time there! We love our plasticware for summer…don’t have to worry about breaking anything or it getting ruined. Just pick up another one if something happens to it! 😊 Hope you have a great holiday weekend! Hugs!
DeleteBenita, I am a beach lovin' girl too, so I'm enjoying your beach theme. Love the buoys. Did you make them? The heron is cool (not a pink flamingo) when you need blue. The natural look of the wood reminds me of driftwood you find on the beach. Delightful and glad you had some rest after the makeover.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Carol! I'm in a beach-kinda mood and this table had been on my mind ever since Chloe had sent us the list of themes! I was afraid I wasn't going to be able to find anything for the lantern and when I ran across that heron, I snatched him up. I found the buoys on sale at Hobby Lobby...they reminded me of the driftwood also! YES, rest was much needed after that makeover! :-) Hugs!
DeleteLOVE THIS!!! You thought of everything.. the bottle opener. ;-)
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Carla! I thought those little bottle openers were so cute, but I forgot the soda! :-) Love and hugs!
DeleteAwesome, and sooooo beachy!!! I love those cute themed tablescapes....but I don't have any cute plates to change up my table, too bad!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Debbie! I'm so ready for the beach and am glad I found some cute inexpensive pieces to use! The themed tablescapes are challenging for me and I've having to dig down deep to find things that work! :-) Have a great holiday weekend! Love and hugs sweet friend!
DeleteAdorable beach table with so many fun elements! I love the bottle openers and your adorable upcycled jean flatware pockets - fabulous idea! Still love that open lantern and love how the spindly legged heron fits right in. Such a great table! Thanks for sharing and so fun hopping with you!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much! I am ready for the beach so I chose pieces that reminded me of the beach! :-) I've enjoyed this hop also and look forward to next month! Have a great holiday weekend! Hugs!
DeleteOnce that song is inside your head … you are singing it all day long ! LOL!
ReplyDeleteThought the theme and colours worked so well, all looks good.
All the best Jan
LOL...so true! I've been singing it for almost a week now...LOL Thank you so much Jan...don't know about you, but I'm ready for the beach! Have a great day! Hugs!
