Week 2.
Since we've had out-of-town guests, we haven't been able to really jump into our Master Bedroom Makeover for the One Room Challenge. Fortunately, I did have an opportunity to make a couple of purchases.
Just to refresh your memory, this is the current plan for our Master Bedroom Makeover...
My first purchase was the rug. I knew it would need a few weeks to flatten. I found it at Overstock, ordered it and boom...just like that it was on the floor. It arrived in 2 days!! I love this rug.
It has already warmed up the space and the dark gray in the rug will shine when I get the walls painted.
AND, let's face it, we all know how a rug really ties the room together, man (The Big Lebowski).
The second purchase was the two mirrors from Lowes.
We want to hang these behind our lamps above the night tables. Once we made the purchase, we opened one of them and placed it to sort of eyeball how they were going to look. The jury is still out. We don't know if it will be too much with art above the bed and they look quite large, overpowering the lamps. We also don't know how they will look with the dark paint. The mirrors will probably be the last item placed in the room. If they work, great...if they don't, great. Once we finish all the other details, if I'm still pining for mirrors, I can find something smaller...cuz I love those lamps and they aren't leaving! Paint and wood rounded out our purchases.
I'm still working on the hubster about that ceiling fan. I ran across this pretty light fixture at Lowe's while I was waiting on our paint.
It is much less expensive...after all, we are on a budget...trying to get this project in the $500-700 price range. Wood, paint and the light fixture are the most expensive parts of the project. Good thing we have free labor.
We are hoping to get some wood on the wall and some painting started within the next week. Next week is chocked full of business meetings, so we will see how it goes.
I hope you all will take the time to head over to the One Room Challenge site and check out all the other guest participants.
There are some amazing projects happening over there!

Love the rug!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Penny! We are happy with it. You just never know when you are ordering online how things are going to look! Have a great weekend! Hugs!
DeleteThat rug is perfect Benita and I hear ya on the mirrors above the night stands. I have two arched pane-less frames that are about the same size as your mirrors that I have wanted to place above my night stands and behind the lamps. They have been in the garage since Christmas, as I debate almost daily if I want to place them. I keep thinking the mood will hit for either yay or nay but so far, I am taking the same stance as Scarlet O'Hara ....."I will think about that tomorrow. Tomorrow is another day!" LOL Hugs Always
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Kari! I tell ya, those mirrors are a double-edged sword for me. I really, really want them, but I struggle with how they are going to look with my laps. Then I have this fear of them just falling out of the wall and crushing everything…LOL. I will take the Scarlett O’Hara stance with you! Solidarity! 😊 Love and hugs!
DeleteSad, I can't have a rug. Charlie (and Abi before she died) always thought rugs were pee pads.
ReplyDeleteBrenda
Awww, that is sad. Rugs are so awesome, but your pets are more awesome!! Love and hugs!
DeleteI love the rug! Can’t wait to see what happens next! It’s going to be so pretty.
ReplyDeleteLisa
Thank you! Me either, honestly….LOL I hope it turns out well…I’m nervous about it! Hugs!
DeleteBeautiful rug, Benita! I love how the room is shaping up. Can't wait to see what you decide to do with the mirror and light fixture. I'm working on the hubs now, too. We need some major help in a few rooms. Of course, he doesn't see it that way. Men. ;)
ReplyDeleteThank you so much! Overstock has such a great selection...and I love their prices! I really want the mirrors, but they just seem too big...we'll see once the board and batten is in place. That light is going to happen...the hubster just needs to get use to the idea...LOL And you are so right...I don't know why they can't see our vision! :-) Love and hugs!
DeleteBeautiful rug. Looking forward to the tour. :-)
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Carla! I’m looking forward to having my bedroom back…it’s already a mess in there…LOL Love and hugs!
DeleteThat rug is gorgeous, Benita! Can't wait to see how the room looks when it's all pulled together!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much! Overstock had so many beautiful rugs, it was really difficult to decide...the pricing helped me make a decision quickly! :-) Love and hugs!
DeleteI love it already, and I LOVE the rug and the chandy! Very exciting! I did a mini master makeover in January, just paint and a new bedspread but it has made such a difference~good thing your husband is so handy, can't wait to see the wood!
ReplyDeleteJenna
Thank you so much Jenna! I hope that the hubster will let me change the chandy and get rid of the ceiling fan. Just the smallest changes do make a huge difference. I can't wait to get the peppercorn paint up...I know it will totally transform the look of our room! Thank you again! Have a great day! Hugs!
DeleteYou've certainly got your work cut out for you but I have no doubts it will turn out lovely...although I am one who needs COLOR:) Glad you know you ordered something from Overstock and was pleased. I've often wondered about ordering from them.
ReplyDeleteIt is a large project, but we are hoping it will be worth it in the end. I’m excited about adding some color to the boring walls…LOL This was my first time ordering from them and I was definitely pleased. Thanks so much Cheri! Have a great day! Hugs!
DeleteLove all the different elements to this space already, Benita! Gosh, it's all going to be gorgeous. I can tell you've been carefully considering each decision and it shows. Everything is so pretty! Hugs, CoCo
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Coco! I’ve had to make a few changes to my original plan, but I suppose that is just part of the journey! Hope things are going well your way! Hugs!
