Short and Sweet - Chocolate Waffles...

Remember that Christmas Wish List I made?  While I didn't get anything on that list, I did get something pretty awesome...a miniature waffle maker!
I never had a waffle maker, but I've always loved waffles.  Now, not only can I make waffles, but I can also make some other cool  recipes.  The eggs made in the waffle maker look so cute and the hubster says they even taste better! ;-)  I don't think they do, but they definitely look cuter!
To make the chocolate waffles, I added 1 tablespoon powdered cocoa to my waffle mix.  Easy peasy!  I topped the waffles with powdered sugar and whipped cream and added a helping of strawberries on the side!
A few of us are participating in this "Short and Sweet" monthly segment!  If any of you are interested in joining us, just let me know.  We would love to have you!
Please be sure to visit the other blogs...I think you will enjoy their "short and sweet" posts!

  1. yummy Benita. I gave up making a list and the Captain knows and expects me to get it myself and give him the credit. LOL However, he did give me roses for Valentine's Day and positioned balloons all over the house. LOL

    1. Thank you so much! That’s usually how it works around here as well. But he did surprise me with a couple of things for Christmas, like this waffle maker. I talk about waffles all the time…looks like he listened! That was so sweet of your hubby! Happy Friday! Love and hugs!

  2. I also have a mini waffle maker and I have made "dessert cake waffles" (https://ppandorasbox.blogspot.com/2018/10/fun-with-waffle-maker.html) They were so tasty. How did you make eggs? Thanks for letting me join your blog hop!

    1. Patti, I'm so glad you did and hope you will participate again in the future. I wanted something easy and fun for us to post! :-) I just scrambled the eggs, added some ham, peppers, etc. and poured it in the waffle maker; however, I did stop pouring right before it reached the edges. The first time I did it, it overflowed...live and learn! Your recipe looks delicious! I have a gingerbread cake recipe and I think I will give it a try...YUM!! Love and hugs!

    1. Honey, they were delicious!! If you have a waffle maker, you definitely need to give it a try. I think next time I will try some chocolate chips rather than the chocolate powder. And, I have some cinnamon chips I think I will try as well. I don't think I could go wrong with anything in the batter...LOL Love and hugs!

  5. I have never owned a waffle maker Benita. My man likes to make pancakes sometimes so I let him have at it! LOL! Hugs and blessings, Cindy

    1. I have never owned one until now and I love having it! It is small so it takes up little space in the cabinet. I make pancakes on occasion, but the hubster says they just don’t stay with him and he has a sugar crash. This miniature waffle maker is perfect because I don’t’ have to get out the big pancake pan and can have enough just for me! 😊 Love and hugs!

  7. This certainly is short and sweet and I love it! Waffles are my favorite! I have a waffle maker but it makes 2 at a time. It's messy. I have seen the little single waffle makers and have been wanting one. You can also us muffin mix and make muffin waffles or even cute waffle hash browns. The ideas are endless. oh man! Now I'm hungry.

    1. Thank you! And you are right, the possibilities are endless with this little maker. I made cornbread waffles in it and they were so good! I'm going to try a gingerbread cake mix this weekend. I'm sure it won't last long! :-) Hugs!

  11. I'm not a great fan of chocolate but I love waffles, and now I want one, and I'm on a diet. Sigh.

    1. WHAT?! No chocolate?! I can't imagine life without it! ;-) I found a good recipe for protein waffles...using regular waffle mix and adding your protein powder. Maybe that would work for the diet? Have a great one!

  13. Oh yeah, waffles are certainly one of the major food groups in our house! And cocoa powder is good for you, right? I'm sure I read that somewhere! Strawberries and whipped cream, now I'm craving that. I made homemade rice pudding yesterday, topped with meringue and it was so good, even better today cold. Doesn't winter make us crave comfort food so badly? Hurry up and come, Spring!

    1. Dark cocoa powder is definitely good for you. I’ve read that it helps lower blood pressure. We add it to our protein shakes daily. Strawberries and whipped cream are absolutely delicious, especially with the no-fat whipped cream alternative…definitely makes you crave spring and summer! Please share the rice pudding recipe, if you don’t mind. Edward loves it and has asked me to make it but I can’t seem to find a recipe that I find appetizing. And yes, winter does make us crave those comfort foods…I guess that is why we put on extra weight during the winter…we aren’t burning off those calories like we do during the spring and summer when we can be outdoors! 😊 Love and hugs sweet friend!
