Life Hacks #5...

I'll tell you, some of the things I'm finding out on the internet in regard to "life hacks" are just bizarre.
To each his own, I suppose.

A study once found that drinking hot chocolate increases the blood flow to the brain, increasing performance and alertness for up to 3 hours.
Hmmm, I suppose the choice here is deciding if you want to be smart or fat...cuz you are going to have to drink lots of hot chocolate to make it through a day!

To keep potatoes from budding...
...add an apple to the bag!

Need to remove a stem from a strawberry, use a straw.
Insert the straw through the bottom of the strawberry and push upward.  This will push the stem out of your way.

Place a knee-high stocking over the end of your vacuum hose while vacuuming...
...to find that small something that you dropped, like an earring.

To save your fingers when hammering a nail into the wall, pinch the nail in the end of a clothespin.
The clothespin holds it in place while you nail...no more hammering your fingers!

    1. I like the idea of the hot chocolate also...but oh, so many calories! Hard choice for me...but I suppose I could exercise a little more if I were going to be more alert and not fall asleep in the middle of lunch! :-) Love and hugs sweet friend!

  5. Perfect! I love the knee high over the vacuum hose to find the dropped object! I have tried to do that but then I seem to have lost the knee high....and my mind wanders to something else I have found, only to forget what I was looking for in the first place!!!!!. Sigh! No help for me I guess. LOL . Great hacks my friend., keep 'em coming. Hugs

    1. I love that one also...just wish I had known it a long time ago. And since I don't own a pair of hose or knee highs, I wonder if I could use a thin sock..I have lots of those...LOL LOL@wandering mind. I too have that problem...walk in a room and forget why I am there. Thanks so much! Love and hugs!

    1. I like the hot chocolate as well, just lots of calories. But that should prompt me to get up and move more since I should be more alert from the extra hot chocolate, right?! LOL We have had a cold spell, which I love. Lots of rain, no snow! :-( Love and hugs!

  7. Ha! I didn't know that about an apple in the potatoes (but don't put it next to bananas or the ethylene gas will make them rot!). I've used the hose at end of vacuum (behind the dryer!), and I thought Super Bowl Sunday was a big pizza day. I was shocked when ours was ready in 20 min that day!
These are all fun findings, Benita. You're on a roll, and I like these posts!

    1. I have heard about the apple in the potatoes but never remember to do it. Guess that means I need some more hot chocolate to keep me alert so that my brain functions properly…LOL I didn’t know that the apples would make the bananas rot…see, I’m learning new stuff as well! WOW…20 minutes!! We can’t get ours that quickly on a regular day! Thank you so much Rita, I’m glad you are enjoying them! Love and hugs!

  8. Hey that tip about the apple in the potato bag, wow, that's awesome!! I wish you had a tip on how my house could dust itself....

    1. LOL...if I could do that, I would be sooooo rich!! And my house would always be dust-free...LOL I hate dusting, almost as much as I hate mopping. It seems that dusting is just a fruitless effort...wipe it away and it immediately settles right in the same spot! :-) Love and hugs!

  9. I have tried the nail one but still managed to hit my thumb! Lol. The hose hack is quite clever, if I had a knee high stocking!

    1. LOL...I have the same problem...it doesn't matter what "hack" I use for it, I always hit my thumb. It is like the hammer aims for it automatically! LOL@knee-high stocking. I don't have any either, so I won't find my valuables...LOL
