I was finally able to finish the table. Thankfully, it was before the egg disaster occurred. Please excuse the horrible lighting in the photos...I refused to take this table to the garage...I'm stubborn that way. :-)
Anyway, remember where I started...with this...
and this....
This was my midpoint....
I started with the gray and had planned to layer the blue color on top of it...with a little sanding and distressing. But after the gray, I thought it looked pretty good....
...so I arranged all of my decor back on it and slid it into place.
After a couple of days, I decided I definitely didn't like it. It was just too dark in the area. I figured I must have been suffering from "paint fume" delusion...so I pulled everything off of it and decided to add another color...white....
The hubster did ask several times when I was just going to shoot it and put it out of it's misery. He thought that 4 coats of paint and continual sanding on one little table was carrying it a bit far. I didn't like the way it looked, so it needed changing.
This is where it ended...
...with 2 coats of white, which was much better than the gray.
While the lighting in this space is horrible, the white paint did make a huge difference. I will admit that I've already changed out one of the photos...I wanted one a little taller on top of the table. Unfortunately, that's just the way it works...take the photo, make a change, don't take another photo because you need to write a blog post and get it published. :-)

It looks wonderful, Benita! I love the white...elegant!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much! The lighting is horrible in this little area and it is difficult to see the white, but it actually looks just like the white table in the entry…LOL
DeleteLooking good Benita! I am glad you went with your gut and got it right for you!
ReplyDeleteThank you! I like the white much better...the gray was just too dark. Too bad these photos are so horrid...LOL
DeleteIt's a lovely transformation, Benita! The white truly does set everything off! Very chic! =) hugs, Christine
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Christine...the wood was too dark and so was the gray. It is hard to tell, but the white does lighten it up quite a bit! Hugs!!
DeleteHi Benita,
ReplyDeleteI think the white looks great. It sometimes takes a few times before we get it to what we like!!! Been there done that lol! Love your vignette on that table.
Kris
Thank you so much Kris! The white does look much better. I was going for an old, cluttered, library look....I need to add some more stacks of books! :-)
DeleteYou have great stamina!!! Keep at it, until you really, really like it! Good for you!!!!
ReplyDeleteHugs and magic,
Tessa
Thank you so much Tessa....some things I need to let go, others, I just keep plugging away. :-) Hugs and yes, magic...;-)
DeleteI have done that same thing...white always wins. ;) Looks great!
ReplyDeleteThank you ma’am…and white is always a good “go to” color. White was voted the top color for 2016.
DeleteI do love both you and your hubster's sense of humor!
ReplyDeleteBrenda
Awww, thank you Brenda....it keeps things interesting...LOL
DeleteIf I shot everything I re-painted, I'd have a lot of dead furniture. But I like your hubby's sense of humor and I think the table is great looking.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much! Like you, if I did shoot these things, they would be littered from here to Texas...and the walls would be full of holes! :-)
DeleteBingo! And if that's in the place where the intake register was, you hid it perfectly with that framed photo on the floor.
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately, this is a duplicate table…I purchased 2 of the same table because I liked it so much. The other one is downstairs, but I do have a basket and those rainboots to help hid the return. :-)
DeleteI'm loving the white, too. Good job not giving up on that table, Benita!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Julie...I was so tired of fooling it with, but the gray was just too dark to leave!
Deletelove the purity and simplicity of the white.
ReplyDeletebut then you knew i would.
it's lovely!
xo
Yes ma’am…the white is simple and basic. I think one can never go wrong with that color…it’s a good base! Love and hugs!!
DeleteIt does look fabulous! I am just absolutely amazed at the tiny little drop cloth you used! I would have to have 3 feet of coverage on all sides! You must be a neat painter....on all four coats of paint!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much! I ripped up a trash bag to use underneath. The hubster can attest to this, I am a meticulous painter. I will not tape off or use a drop cloth unless I think it might be necessary. Otherwise, I just fly without a net! :-)
DeleteSometimes it takes a village of paint to raise a table. Like AnnMarie I cannot believe you painted the table on your carpet. I have to paint outside.
ReplyDeleteI agree!! I’m acquiring quite of a village of paint..LOL. I hate moving things to paint and try to “paint in place”…one of those OCD problems I have…LOL
DeleteI love it---the white was a good choice in this case as it contrasts better with the black. Very pretty and I love the way you've styled it. :)
ReplyDeleteJane x
Awww, Jane, thank you so much! I like the white much better (even though it is difficult to see with the lighting). I was going for an old, cluttered library look...but I need more books stacked around....that is, if I can handle more books stacked around...LOL. Hugs!!
DeleteLove it :-) I love the way you decorated the area as well.
ReplyDeleteThank you ma’am!! It’s growing on me, but I might be adding some more books…LOL
DeleteI love the white Benita! :)
ReplyDeleteI laughed though, that I was not the only one that noticed that tiny drop cloth underneath...I too would have paint everywhere! ;)
I love the vignette too, very pretty!
Kimberley
Thank you so much Kimberley! I hate moving things to paint...that's why it was only a small trash bag and all of the items were in the floor the way I wanted to start arranging them on the table. I'm weird that way...LOL. If I could have gotten away with it, the items would have been put on the table while it was still wet...LOL Hugs!!
DeleteIt may have come about with lots of effort, Benita, but it looks as if a master stylist knew exactly what she was doing. I love it! And I love that touch of green in the globe under the table, very chic!
ReplyDeleteNow I on to see what the egg disaster was all about!
Dewena
Awww, thank you so much Dewena. I wanted an old, cluttered library look for this area, but I think I need to add quite a few more books…IF my OCD will let me just stack them randomly about…LOL Love and Hugs to you!!
DeleteI think it looks great. and your styling is fantastic!!
ReplyDeletePetra, thank you so much, you are sweet! I didn't want it all organized like everything else in the house, but it seems it has turned out that way...LOL. I need to make it a mess and just pile stuff all over it!
