I've made no bones about it...I LOVE FALL!!
Next to winter, it is my most favorite season....well, actually, fall and winter probably tie for first place! With fall, the air is crisp - not heavy, the weather is cooler, my hair doesn't kink up when I go outside, I can wear sweaters and cover up with a blanket while I'm sitting on the porch. When the temperature drops to 70, I get to have a nice fire in the fireplace....but most importantly, I get to pull out all the fall decor! I also get to purchase a few new pieces to blend in with the old.
The other day, I had to run to Pier 1 to pick up something that had been on hold for me. No, I'm not going to tell you what it is, you will just have to wait to see when I show you my fall decorations....which will be on September 18th! I'm so excited because I've been asked to participate in my very first Blog Hop!! YAY!!! If you look to the right on my side bar, you will see the list and schedule of the bloggers participating! I am thrilled and so very honored to be included with these bloggers. Their homes are gorgeous and while WE might still be sitting on boxes, those boxes will be wearing the finest colors of fall! :-)
So anyway, I was at Pier 1. They have so many wonderful fall items.....I just had to come back and share of few of them with you!
I love these chalkboards!
While most of you can make these, those who are as craft-challenged as I am have to purchase them...you've seen my projects...let's not go there.
I also found these adorable pillows...
...I just love the colors! And yes, those raffia bows are just as cute in person!
This wreath and wreath hanger are pretty awesome!
I don't know what it is about fall that makes we want to go "all rustic" up in the house!
These lanterns, pumpkins and antler candleholders are perfect for the fireplace mantel....
....or an entry table (to cover up an ugly air return).
I fell in love with all of these things and wanted to take them home with me, but I restrained myself and only came home with what I went for. Well, okay, I did pick up a tiny air freshener for the closet! :-)
BUT, don't be surprised if you see one or two of these items during the Fall Home Tour next month. Oh, before I forget, I did find some of the cutest sticks...the hubster was thrilled! ;-)

Fall is my favorite season too, but it doesn't feel like Fall yet here. Can't wait for the cooler weather and the pumpkins!
ReplyDeleteWe've had a tiny taste this past week, but our temps will be blazing next week! I am so ready for some really cool weather and lots of pumpkin, spice and everything nice! :-)
DeleteI think I've said this before, but I am a summer girl. I do enjoy fall, the change in the air, but you see here, fall means 40 and 50 degrees and sometimes snow. Then that turns into winter with 10 and 20 degree weather and tons of snow...until April. So I am not ready to let go of hazy, hot and humid just yet. I am, however, very excited for Brenda's hop and I adore all of the Pier 1 pretties! Can't wait to see what you do with all those sticks! ;)
ReplyDeleteLOL 40 and 50??? Ahh, those temps are glorious!! I believe it should never be above 65 degrees on a summer day and never be humid. :-) I can see why you would want it to last. I wouldn’t want the snow until around the middle of December….but, it could snow a little on Thanksgiving. I am really looking forward to it also! I’ve never been a part of one before, so I’m just ecstatic about it! I loved all of these things at Pier 1 and will get a couple. I’ve got to find a place for my treasured sticks…LOL
DeleteI love fall too but deep down I am still a summer girl so I am holding onto summer just for a little while longer.
ReplyDeleteI am going to have to head over to Pier One. Looks like they have some great things for fall.
Have a great week end. Keeping good thoughts for Monday for you.
Kris
I'm a fall and winter chick and wish that summer was shorter...LOL. Now, I love all the smells and tastes of summer because there are some awesome recipes that are only good during the summer months and the smell of suntan lotion makes me delirious...LOL...but at the heart of it all, I like the colder weather best. I could have stayed in that store all day! :-) Thank you so much Kris! We are keeping our fingers crossed also! :-)
DeleteSeems a shopping trip to Pier 1 is in order for me.
ReplyDeleteYou won't be disappointed! There were so many more adorable things for fall and some really cute things for Halloween!
DeleteBenita,
ReplyDeleteI really like the rustic theme you are beginning to assemble and I am so excited that we are in the Blog Hop!
I have some real tweaking to do, but like you I am excited to get ready for Fall!
Have a super weekend,
xo
Jemma
Thanks so much Jemma! I've found a few things at Hobby Lobby also....and adding those to what I already have will hopefully make it look decent and pulled together. It's just hard to tell how it's going to look when you are rummaging through a box! :-) I'm excited and can't wait!! Hope you have a fabulous weekend!! Hugs!!!
DeleteFall is my favorite season for so many reasons. I am waiting till October 1st to decorate when it "feels" like Fall here. We are supposed to get close to 90 here early next....yuck! Can't wait for the cooler, crisp air and crunchy leaves! I get into too much trouble when I go to Pier 1! Love what you showed us....so tempted to take a peek!
ReplyDeleteI get into a lot of trouble at Pier 1, World Market and Hobby Lobby! :-) Fall is just a wonderful season…so many colors….and I love the cool air and crunchy leaves also….just so many great things. How do you wait until October?? LOL…I would be beside myself. I saw that someone in the neighborhood already had a fall wreath on their door. They must be ready for fall also! :-)
Deleteugh... ugh... I really don't know what else to say. I'm on my way back to a rainy and cold Paris and am contemplating a move to Australia. the idea of fall and winter approaching is just too unbearable... maybe you can convince me that it's not that bad...
ReplyDeleteOh Petra, I know you love summer so much, but fall and winter give us time to relax, slow down and reflect on the past year and set new goals for the upcoming year. Summer brings such a flourish of activity and we are always on the go. I think we need the down time for contemplation. On the flip side, I've heard that Australia is awesome. My husband's uncle lived there for many years and hated moving back to the US. Yeah, I know, I was no help at all! ;-)
DeleteHi Benita, Oh those pillows, they are just too cute! This year I am adding more than a few chalkboards, thanks to Pinterest! Love to see your decorations! Happy Weekend!! hugs, Christine
ReplyDeleteChristine, aren't they just adorable! I think I'm going to have to go back and get them. I walked away from them but have been regretting that decision! I love the chalkboards, but have to purchase. My ability to do these things is severely lacking...you've seen it...up close and personal! LOL Thanks so much girl! Have a wonderful weekend!! Hugs!!
Deletefall and winter are my favorites too! even as a child when everybody else loved summer.
ReplyDeletei love sweater weather...
the smell of the air... every bit of it!
except the weather guys have warned us... temps still to be in the 90's well into september....
ah. well.
a person can dream!
and catch the enthusiasm of you all (ya'll) who REALLY HAVE autumn!!! xo♥
Aren't those 2 seasons just wonderful??!! I was the same way as a kid. We are having unseasonably warm temps in September also, so we all may be in the same boat...late fall weather! I hope someone is having some cool weather in September! :-) Hugs!!
DeleteI love Pier One although I've been avoiding that store lately since I have very little restraint when I go there. Oh those chalkboards were perfect and the pillows and lanterns were so pretty. Okay, now you have me pumped up for the Fall... :)
ReplyDeleteI have to restrict my comings and goings to Pier 1...it is a dangerous store for me. I'm usually pretty good about staying away, but I was "forced" to go pick up the items they were holding...LOL. I felt like a kid in a candy store...LOL!
DeleteHi Benita! :)
ReplyDeleteGuilty like some of your other commenters of being a summer girl too...I do love fall though, it comes in second to summer for me...I love the cozy clothes and blankets and boots and wool socks...and what I love most is being able to use my oven again to make hearty hot meals once the weather cools down! :)
I love the chalkboard signs and that antler door hanger is on my list for this week...thank you for egging on my shopping habit! ;)
Kimberley
Hey chick! I’m like you, I cannot wait to start with the autumn and winter meals and using the oven daily. Nothing smells better than some gingerbread or apple pie baking in the oven, and summer is definitely not the time for that! I love that door hanger also and am trying to decide about buying it. It wasn’t that expensive, but the stores around here are out of them and I will have to order online….the shipping cost is what kills me…but I may just bite the bullet because that hanger is too stinkin’ cute! :-)
DeleteHi again! :)
DeleteI did go an buy it yesterday...I told my husband that it was all your fault for showing it to me and making me want it! ;)
It is just as nice in person! I am going to use it to hang my Christmas wreath on, may tie a plaid ribbon around his neck!
If you order the item in the Pier 1 store you don't have to pay for shipping, I ordered a pillow that way a couple of months ago - the employee showed me how to order it on their computer and I didn't have to pay the shipping. I assume they still do this?
LOL....I don't mind taking the blame...I'm hundreds of miles away! ;-)
DeleteThat is so awesome!! I will pop into the store today and order it! I've seen the computer and people ordering with the help of the sales people, so yes, they still do it! I'm so excited for you! That hanger is something else...you will have to take photos and post them!! Coolio!!
I'm wholeheartedly a fall and winter woman! As I've gotten older I do try to appreciate the joys of each season but after July 4th until September 1, it's pretty much pretending to like summer. I can't wait to visit all the homes on the Fall Tour! I love peeking into other bloggers' houses!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful teasers in your pictures, Benita! I love that pine cone wreath.
More sticks? Well your sticks are more elegant than my sticks! I found a suggestion in an old 1940s garden book where he suggested in February to gather different twigs and sticks from outside and tie them together for a wall arrangement. Sounded neato to me but when I hung mine it looked really really bad.
You think you're bad at craft projects, you don't know the meaning of bad unless you saw my sticks.
It's the last day of August, Benita! Are you as excited as I am?
Dewena
Dewena, I am THRILLED that August is over and that summer is coming to a close. The weather last week was so wonderful and I was hoping we would move right into much cooler temps. Well, as you know, that’s not happening. We are back in the heat wave! YUCK!
DeleteI love looking into other’s homes as well…such a voyeuristic group we are! I call it “gathering new and improved ideas”! I can’t imagine you pulling anything together that looked bad!
Since I have to buy my sticks, they better look good sitting anywhere I put them…LOL You are too funny Dewena!
Well, the other sticks just wouldn't work for Fall, so I'm sure he gets that ;)
ReplyDeleteAnd I'm the same about Fall and Winter. Spring comes in a close second.
Cute stuff! I can't wait to see what you bought :)
xo
LOL....rrriiiggghhhttt...men just do not understand stick purchases...at all! :-) Thanks so much! I haven't purchased any of it yet since we've been waiting around on closing. But as soon as those papers are signed, I will be stopping by Pier 1 to pick up a few things. Fortunately, it is right on the way back from the closing office! :-) Hugs!!
DeleteNot having my curly hair get kinky is my top reason why I love the Fall! Lol. Love the chalkboards. I think you could do it Benita! You should try to make one. Once you do, you'll never go back to buying them.
ReplyDeleteThank you!! Someone who understands the “kinky” hair problem! :-) Mine drives me crazy in the humidity and heat!! Edward laughs at me all the time. I tell him I will never visit or live in Hawaii because every day would be a bad hair day there for me! LOL
DeleteI may give it a try. I’ve still got that horrible sign I tried to make that I need to do something with….it is a complete do over!
