Patriotic Paddle Board...

Oh my gosh!  Can you believe that the 4th of July is just a few short weeks away??!!  I can't.  The hubster and I will be celebrating 11 years of marriage! YAY!  We got married on the 4th so that everyone could celebrate with us...AND, so he would never forget our anniversary. Smart thinkin', eh?! :-)

I'm so glad you are joining me today for our monthly Ten on the 10th challenge.  Our theme this month is 4th of July!  You are going to love all of the wonderful inspiration from this great group of bloggers!

I admit, I was at a total loss as to what to do this month for my project.  While out roaming for an idea, I saw this paddle board at Michael's.  Hmmm, this might work for something cute AND, I have a coupon.  Don't we all base our buying decisions on whether or not we have a coupon?!

I grabbed my paddle and brought it home to turn it into something patriotic-looking for the 4th.  I had frog tape, sponge brushes and craft paint.  I taped off my design (yes, I was a little adventurous and opted for diagonal lines)...

...and painted my lines.

Note: when you use painter's tape to map out your design, paint away from the edge of the tape.  This keeps the paint from bleeding under the tape.

I removed the tape (like a band-aid) added my white paint, roughed it up a little bit with a sanding block and put on a coat of vintage wax.

Now, I have a perfect serving paddle for 4th of July goodies.

These cute little containers are from the Target Dollar Spot.  Each set comes with 2 bowls...one set that has "stars/stripes" printed on it and the other set is covered with stars and stripes.

These bowls are great for holding peanuts, condiments, olives, etc.  I only had room for 3 on my serving paddle.

Please be sure to visit my blogger friends to see all of their 4th of July inspiration.

  1. I love it. You definitely had more luck with the painter's tape than I did. I blame the tape! 😉 And my husband and I started dating on July 4th...well technically sometime the week before, but we picked that date, so he'd never forget. Great minds and all...Thanks for hosting!

    1. Thank you so much! I've struggled with painter's tape and ALWAYS blame the tape. After all, I do follow directions and it is not my fault it there is bleed. :-) Even painting away from the tape, there was some bleeding. The sanding block took care of that though..LOL YES, like minds!! It helps the guys not forget important dates! You are so welcome...this is a great group and y'all make it easy! Love and hugs!
