My grandparents ate dinner around 2:30 and then had a small snack later in the evening. This 2:30 meal and their breakfast were large meals also. I think that was the norm back then. That's a beautiful cornpone there, Benita!

Coming from a farming family, my father always had cornbread and buttermilk for supper because breakfast and dinner (lunch) was huge. I'm trying to talk my husband into the idea of our main meal being at lunch when he fully retires. Leftovers for supper and no pots and pans to wash up at night. I like that idea.Dewenahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07330797553600987145noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-758780567770747669.post-86722632822538673992015-08-26T07:53:46.105-05:002015-08-26T07:53:46.105-05:00Oh, that sounds so delicious Kay!Oh, that sounds so delicious Kay!Benitahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02712521705008463049noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-758780567770747669.post-60913026937806219632015-08-26T07:52:29.837-05:002015-08-26T07:52:29.837-05:00I love that stone ground meal. I have a southern accent, which I try to hide the best I can, and I do try really hard to not draw out my syllables, which we southerners are known for….LOL. We do make fun of each other and our accents though….Edward was using a “southern Charleston blueblood” accent yesterday while we were eating lunch….LOL. And then, sometimes, we will use our best “redneck lingo”….saying things like “I don’ heered ja”….I hope people do not ever eavesdrop on us…they will think we are nuts…LOL

It depends on the meal as to whether I like my cornbread a little sweet, with sugar, or regular. The cornmeal was a tad course, not too much, but still just enough to have that little “crunch”…does that make any sense? :-)
Benitahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02712521705008463049noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-758780567770747669.post-59557068092229589042015-08-25T09:14:18.018-05:002015-08-25T09:14:18.018-05:00Ohhhhh sighhhhh...
